The Bet

Sorry for the delay in posting, but I was out of town and had to wait to get home to see Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.  Interestingly enough, there was an article in the Sunday paper that talked about a guy who was eating school food for a year and writing a book about his experience, and it seems like this show is putting the fire under a lot of school lunch programs.
In any case, the last episode was about a bet between the morning DJ and Jamie.  Jamie bet a beer that he could get 1000 people cooking healthy in 5 days.  He managed to pull it off in a couple different ways, including creating a flashmob on Marshall Campus in Huntington, cooking in the street in Huntington, having a cooking class for steel workers, and by putting a lot of people through his classroom kitchen.  It looked like they were all making the same noodle dish – a quick and flavorful stir fry with chicken, noodles, ginger, chili’s, green onion, and maybe some bell peppers.  They didn’t go into much detail about the recipe other than the fact that it was quick and used fresh ingredients.
Jamie was also able to get the Governor of WV and DJ Rod to become part of the thousand that received training.  In fact, Ron was the 1000th, and I think that Jamie has pretty much won him over.
