Cheeky-choppy yet charming in his own way, Britain’s famous chef Jamie Oliver have not only shown the world that he’s a Casanova in the kitchen but a family man and a romantic lover as well.
Jamie Oliver’s first love may be the kitchen where he grew up but it will still be former model Juliette “Jools” Norton who took his heart away. Jamie was about sixteen and Jools was seventeen in 1993 when they met at Newport Free Grammar School in a church near the Olivers’ home where they were both students. Jamie had said in an interview that he found Jools “quite tasty”, fancied her and eventually they had dated for seven years and had tied the knot in June 24, 2000.
The childhood sweethearts held a traditional ceremony in Rickling, Essex where they had an Elvis impersonator to serenade their 100 guests with the song “I Can’t Help Falling In Love” and served freshly-baked bread by Jamie himself for everyone in the reception.
Soon after their wedding, Jools was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, which made it difficult for her to conceive naturally. Despite the fertility problems, they now have three lovely daughters, Poppy Honey Rosie (born March 18 2002), Daisy Boo Pamela (born April 10 2003), and Petal Blossom Rainbow (born April 3 2009). The first two were conceived through IVF while Petal was conceived naturally. Jamie whipped up another this year as it was reported that they expect the new baby to arrive this September.
Jools was once a model, waitress, TV runner, and personal assistant but now is a stay-at-home mom for their children. While Jamie is busy with his work and campaigns, Jools is there to keep her children happy. And this has made their marriage much more successful than other prominent couples.
However, there had been some incident in 2005 when Jamie’s career almost cost him his marriage. They both appeared in Jamie’s TV show, Jamie’s School Dinners where Jools was shown weeping over an allegation of infidelity against Jamie. He allowed the camera to shoot the scene to show the tabloid how badly the impact of their tittle-tattle had been to their marriage.
But Jamie’s problem, ever since his shows started to grow and until now that he has businesses to expand, is his very busy schedule. He’s had a tough time handling his schedule. There had been a time that he couldn’t put his first two daughters to bed but now he spend weekends in their country home with his family, according to his website.
Jamie Oliver’s success as a chef and restaurateur appears to have been blessed even more with a wife like Jools who has been very supportive to him and his mission, and his three lovely girls to sprinkle and strengthen their relationship with some sugar, spice, and everything nice. Hopefully, his fame and success will not put his marriage and family at stake again.
